Pianist Elizabeth Chladil (left) encourages her audiences and students to embrace a lifelong participation in music through her work as a performer, teaching artist, and piano instructor. She has performed in the United States and internationally including recitals in Poland, France, and Japan. She regularly performs on the Multiverse Concert Series, which presents multidisciplinary events combining science lectures and music. A founding member of the flute and piano duo Marvento, she was in residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute and performed at the 2020 Dalcroze Society of America National Conference.
An enthusiastic teaching artist, Elizabeth invites audiences to form personal connections with live music through interactive workshops. She especially enjoys collaborating with schools to present workshops relating students’ academic studies to chamber and solo music. She directed and performed in an interdisciplinary “Whale Week” at St. Paul’s Choir School in which students learned about whales in their classes and heard a live performance of George Crumb’s Vox Balaenae. She has been a teaching artist with the Cantata Singers’ Classroom Cantatas program in which students in Boston Public Schools compose and sing cantatas based on a theme chosen by their classroom teachers.
A dedicated teacher of private lessons as well as musicianship and theory classes, Elizabeth encourages musical artistry through balancing energy and spontaneity with patient attention to detail. In addition to her thriving private studio, she has served on the faculty of Powers Music School (Belmont, MA) and St. Paul’s Choir School (Cambridge, MA) since 2013.
Elizabeth holds an M. M. degree in Piano Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and a B. M. degree in Piano Performance from Ball State University. She is currently pursuing certification in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a movement-based approach to music learning. Her principal teachers include Rieko Aizawa, Eda Shlyam, and Robert Palmer.
