Weronika Balewski, flute, and Elizabeth Chladil, piano, are Boston-based musicians who value the conversations between performers, audiences, and students. Active as chamber musicians and instrumental teachers, they founded Marvento Duo in 2013 to collaborate as both performers and teaching artists.
Weronika and Elizabeth were artists in residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute and have collaborated with Multiverse Concert Series to present multidisciplinary concerts in collaboration with research scientists and visual artists, such as “Reef Music” and “Exoplanets.” They have performed at the Dalcroze Society of America National Conference and presented community concerts in Poznan, Poland, as well as throughout the Boston area. They developed an interactive concert exploring programmatic and abstract music, Is There a Gargoyle in Your Sonata?, which they presented at el Sistema Somerville and for a family concert in Brookline. Other performances have taken them to venues as varied as house concerts, formal recital halls, local schools, and senior living homes, including the Brookline Music School, the New School of Music, and the Waltham Council on Aging
Marvento Duo develops interactive educational workshops that encourage listeners to make personally relevant connections to live performances of chamber music. They presented Copland’s Leaping Melodies and Deconstructing Climaxes at Rockport Music, Boston Flute Academy, and St. Paul’s Choir School. They have also performed for families and seniors at Powers Music School, Neville Place Assisted Living, and NewBridge on the Charles, and worked with graduate students in residences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
