Weronika Balewski

Weronika Balewski (right) is a flutist, Dalcroze educator, and arts leader. She is dedicated to creating engaging musical experiences that connect us to ourselves and to each other. She is the Flutist and Co-Founder of Marvento Duo and performs on both modern and Baroque flutes in various chamber, orchestra, and educational projects. She is Director of Development and Instructor at Integral Steps, an educational non-profit organization serving individuals, families, and communities through programs which integrate the mind, body, and emotions through interdisciplinary learning. Weronika has a thriving private studio in the Boston area and online.

Weronika collaborates regularly with Multiverse Concert Series on community events combining musical performances, scientific lectures, and activities for children and families. Recently, she co-founded the Virtual Dalcroze Meet-Up, an international community of music educators sharing strategies for online teaching and beyond. With Marvento Duo, Weronika was in residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute and performed concerts in Poznań, Poland and at the Dalcroze Society of America 2020 National Conference.  

Weronika’s past chamber music collaborations include a fellowship at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival; the Coffee Cantata Project at Longy, featured in Susan Rockefeller’s film Bach Star Café; and writing, producing, and performing in Volare Ensemble’s humorous musical play The Meaning of Life: A Musical Debate at the Boston Early Music Fringe Festival. Weronika has performed as a guest artist with 208 Ensemble in Boise and Room to Spare in Roslindale, MA. She also co-founded Emissary Quartet and played with the ensemble for four seasons. 

Weronika is a certified teacher of Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a social, joyful, movement-based approach to learning music. She teaches music and movement musicianship classes for organizations including Floot Fire Boston, Colorado Suzuki Institute, the Suzuki Association of Colorado Fall Festival, and Old Town Suzuki. She has been on faculty at the Epstein Hillel School, the Suzuki School of Newton and Making Music Matters! serving Boston Public school students.

Weronika has performed as a concerto soloist with the Brookline Symphony Orchestra. She has been a section flutist with the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, the Berry Collective Chamber Orchestra, Brevard Music Center Festival Orchestra, American Bach Soloists’ Orchestra, and the Festival de Musica de Santa Catarina in Brazil.

Weronika holds a B.F.A. in Flute Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and a M.M. in Flute Performance as well the Dalcroze Certificate from the Longy School of Music of Bard College. She was the 2018-2019 Integrative Education Fellow at Integral Steps, focusing on education which balances the development of the mind, body, and emotions.
