Peter da Silva

Peter da Silva is a multi-instrumentalist from the Boston area. Performing extensively on saxophone, clarinet, and flute he has a deep background in all genres of music. In the world of classical music he has performed with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra on clarinet under the direction of Cynthia Woods, played on the only recording of Frank Martin’s Concert Suite From Ein Totentanz Zu Basel Im Jahre 1943 with the Massachusetts Chamber Players, and as a member of the West Saxophone Quartet appeared in chamber music competitions throughout the country. 

In the world of musical theatre he has performed extensively throughout Massachusetts for years and was in the pit for thepremier of The Royal Family of Broadway, written by William Finn and Rachael Sheinkin (the same team behind 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). He has also performed throughout Massachusetts extensively as a pop and funk musician, and is the current saxophonist in the band Clique performing throughout all of New England most weeks out of the year. 

As a jazz musician he has studied and performed in every style in the history of the music, including ragtime and hot jazz with the High Society Orchestra, early big band swing with Dan Gabel's Abletones and the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra, big band and small group hits from bebop to the hard bop eras in his own groups and as part of the Collegiate All-Stars Big Band at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, modern swing music with the Kenny Hadley Big Band in Massachusetts and the Brian Martin Big Band in Des Moines, Iowa, and has also taught and performed free and experimental jazz from M-Base to Anthony Braxton's Ghost Trance Music.
